Technical Assistance The purpose of Growing and Expanding Dual Language Education (DLE) is to engage district and school leadership teams with support in the early stages of DLE Program planning and implementation at the elementary level and/or in expanding the DLE program into the secondary level, including implementation of the Seal of Biliteracy Award. Technical assistance is provided over an extended period of time through conference calls, DLE Program Exploration is based on the research-based Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education (2018), Strand 1 Program Structure, and the Dual Language Program Planner, A Guide for Designing and Implementing Dual Language Programs. District Leadership: A district-level commitment to supporting dual language education is essential. This commitment is demonstrated by establishing policies that are inclusive of the goals and essential elements of the program. School Leadership: It is important to have a culturally and linguistically knowledgeable school leader (e.g., principal, assistant principal, instructional coach) who is responsible for the day-to-day decision making and operation of the DLE program. The school leaders should possess the commitment and confidence to ensure the success of the selected program model. Additional Resources:
