After observing and dissecting a model lesson, participants will be guided to write a lesson adapted for their emergent bilingual learners. This lesson will include content, cultural and language objectives that foster expressive language. It will also contain sheltering strategies such as planning for student interactions, supporting learning with realia, and making text accessible to make content comprehensible. Finally, this lesson will be based on the needs of second language students according to the WIDA standards. Participants will present their newly planned lessons to receive feedback from the group and the instructor. Audience: This workshop is planned for teachers new in one-way or two-way programs and/or for teachers who are new in the dual language field.m Experienced dual language teachers and coaches are also welcomed. This professional development opportunity will be facilitated in English, Portuguese, Mandarin, and/or Spanish, depending on demand.
