The purpose of this conference is to create the opportunity for dual language educators to network and collaborate, increase our professional development, share instructional methods that promote bilingualism and multiculturalism, disseminate current research, and learn new ways to reach out to families and communities. This conference is an opportunity for school and district leaders, classroom teachers, and staff working in Dual Language Education programs to network with other Dual Language practitioners, engage in professional development for Dual Language instruction, and learn how to develop and advocate for Dual Language Education.
Keynote Speakers Joan Lachance and Andrea Honigsfeld will speak about concepts raised in their bestselling book Collaboration and Co-Teaching for Dual Language Learners: Transforming Programs for Multilingualism and Equity. Lachance and Honigsfeld acknowledge that it is vital for partner teachers in Dual Language Programs to develop competency in effective collaboration:
Registration for the conference closed on Friday, February 23.
MABE's Pre-Conference Virtual Roundtable is an advocacy event for invited guests and interested parties including school and district leaders, state education agencies, legislators, higher education institutions, and community organizations from Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Maine. By making connections and creating opportunities for collaboration among many stakeholders, we will be able to move forward together in creating the most equitable education and language learning programs for our students, especially those in underserved groups.

Friday, March 8, 2024
This year, our focus is on how the shortage of bilingual teachers poses a considerable challenge to our education system, and an even more pressing challenge to our DLE programs. This Roundtable Discussion aims to bring together decision-making partners a meaningful discussion on the current state of bilingual teacher shortages and explore collaborative strategies to address this pressing issue.
Pre-Conference School Visits
