MABE offers a variety of in-service Professional Development (PD) options during its Summer Institute, as well as for individual schools/districts upon request. MABE makes every effort to provide cost-effective and high-quality virtual and/or in-person professional learning services that are tailored to communities and personalized to your needs. Following PD, MABE can provide continued Technical Assistance.

The professional learning opportunities created by MABE are based on the Guiding Principles for Dual Language Education (Strand 5: Staff Quality and Professional Development) and the teacher competencies outlined in the  National Dual Language Education Teacher Preparation Standards (NDLETPS, also known as the EMMA Standards). For more information about different state licenses, please see the Teaching License section under individual states in our advocacy page

Through critical thinking and reflective practice, the in-service PD will prepare new teachers and leaders and deepen the competencies of experienced educators for the successful implementation of Dual Language Bilingual Education (DLBE) programs.

PD may include:

  • Full-Day (6-hour) or Half-Day (3-hour) virtual or in-person PD session(s)
  • Customized to your needs and issues
  • Embedded coaching
  • Co-facilitation of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs)
  • Collaborative analysis of observed teaching
  • Training facilitated by veteran DLBE educators
  • Additional instructional resources from MABE

Outcomes:

  • Participants will develop a deeper learning of DLBE program essentials and instruction building their unique competencies as DLBE educators
  • Completion Certificate

Please contact Phyllis Hardy, Executive Director, for further information or to request a service.
